I LOVE cookie dough. I can remember making cookies with my mom when I was a kid, begging to lick the beaters and always stealing another finger full when mom wasn’t looking. I still do this now when I bake cookies with my own kids. It grosses my husband out because of the raw egg, but I don’t care. To me it’s one of my favorite guilty pleasures.
As you can imagine though, eating a huge amount of dough isn’t safe and definitely isn’t part of a healthy nutrition plan. Enter my made-up concoction, Protein Cookie Dough (aka Faux Dough). This gives the the flavor and texture I crave along with healthy doses of protein, carbs, fiber, and fat.
The recipe just has 6 simple ingredients and is easy to make. Have it for breakfast, snacks, or anytime the cookie dough craving hits!
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup vanilla protein powder
- 1 ½ Tablespoons almond butter
- ¼ cup oats
- Pinch of salt
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- Water (to desired thickness)
Instructions:
Combine all dry ingredients. Add almond butter and enough water to moisten. Mix thoroughly with fork until all ingredients are combined. Add additional water as needed/desired.
Note: Feel free to add your own ingredients and make this recipe your own! Chocolate chips, raisins, small candies, etc. are all great options.
